Investigations on melting and solidification of a battery cooling system using different phase change materials

The temperature of battery modules in electric vehicles must be controlled adequately to remain within a specified range for optimum performance. In this research work, thermal management with PCM was investigated experimentally and computationally. Li-Ion pack cooled removing heat generated during the charging discharging cycles. Computations experiments were carried out estimate transfer, solidification melting characteristics used cell module. Four (GR44, RT50, OM35, paraffin wax) different study. Battery operating point are key parameters selection PCM. Experiments have been only OM35 wax, because is wax considering harshest condition. below 35?C which accordance desire keep that temperature. Based on experimental simulation results, it found keeping minimal, ideal management.
